About me

I am passionate about social work education and research. My PhD research under Prof. Dr Gregor Lang-Wojtasik and Prof. Dr Silvia Staub-Bernasconi focused on investigating students’ belonging in schools in Austria and Australia. Before that, I served for over fifteen years as a social worker in Austria with a decade spent directing a school social work program. I have extensive experience designing, guiding and managing effective child protection and participation programs in this role. As a social work lecturer, my courses are dedicated to developing scientific guidelines for action with strong reference to community empowerment. Recently, I've been working on teaching and skills training around the impact of climate change in social work and using applied ethics to mitigate the possible effects of climate-related events. International interdisciplinary collaborations (e.g., in Belgium, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland and Ireland) provide new insights into the human rights implications of climate justice and the related glocal challenges.
